Photo mosaic
Chaos
The Chaos Mosaic Picture is a new form of photo mosaic which can, at present, only be created by Foto-Mosaik-Edda. The tiles are not organized next to each other, like traditional photo mosaics. Instead, they are mixed wildly together, as if in a spread out heap of photos.
The size ratios (landscape,
portrait, square...) of the original photos in the database will
remain the same. Therefore, you will find photos with different
formats in the same photo mosaic picture. The size of the
tiles, as well as which angle they are placed in the photo mosaic,
will be decided randomly by the program. The range for these
features can be set.
The exact number of tiles can only be determined during the
creation of the photo mosaic, because Foto-Mosaik-Edda can add
photos with random sizes and rotations to the picture until the
whole space is covered.
With the use of a border and transparent cast shadow, which will be automatically drawn around the photo mosaic tiles, the appearance of a spread out collection of photos becomes much stronger.
Example
These photo mosaic pictures have been generated using Foto-Mosaik-Edda. The photos were taken from www.flickr.com in October 2008 and can be found in the Creative-Common-License 2.0. The source information for the current photos can be downloaded.
